So today...I found out that Ben Chapman, the man who played my favorite monster, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, died on the 21st. He played the gillman on land while Ricou Browning played him in the water scenes.

But even though the man is gone, the Gillman will live forever, no matter how many times he's shot, burned, harpooned, or surgically reshapen into a humanoid fish man thing.

This was something I was working on back around Halloween but never finished in time plus I wasn't diggin how it was turning out. But I figured I'd finish it for this misfortunate occassion. Not my best work though.

Rest in peace Mr. Chapman. I hope Bela Lugosi, Boris Karloff, Lon Chaney Jr. and Vincent Price welcome you to the big white lagoon in the sky.

Awesome work, and I was saddened as well to hear he passed away..but great tribute both to the man and one of the classic screen monsters

That news made me sad as well, mostly stunned though... It's just that these modern horror films haven't made anything as iconic and lovable as the old monster films... It's sad with everyone going for stunning special effects and losing the whole heart of horror films..
