This Piano Plays Me by SeizureDemon This Piano Plays Me by SeizureDemon
Making up a song about Cooooraliiiine....

I can't even remember the last time an animated movie hit me so hard. Probably since Nightmare Before Christmas, and that was when I was 7 years old. And no it WASN'T directed by Tim Burton nor did he have anything to do with it. This is Henry Selick's vision. This film in every way is a masterpiece of animated brilliance! And do you know how hard and tedious stop motion animation is? Well...its very hard and tedious haha, more so than hand drawn, especially if your making a movie like Coraline.

I've been working on this for a while now, ever since I saw it after the 2nd time in theaters (total 3 times hell yea). I loved the Other Father scene with the They Might Be Giants song, think thats my favorite scene. I really wanted to experiment with it and I was inspired by Shane Prigmore's designs for the film, the whole lineless thing with textures. It was a long process but I'm alright with the final result.

I'm really glad this movie came along, gives me hope for the future of animation. If you haven't seen it, GO SEE IT!Gah, when's the DVD coming out!?

Also go check my blog for some Coraline sketches and goodies: [link]

HAHAHAHAHAHA! Nearly choked. Soooooooo funny!!!! That was one of my favorite scenes from the movie because I play piano, too. Just curious, but did anyone else think that Charlie and the Other Father's neck and chin looked like a leg and the beginning of a foot?

True! everyone believes it was directed from Tim Burton.
it wasn't.
and yes, i agree that it was unbelievably spectacular for a stop motion film.
it's my dream to direct dark stop motion musicals.

awesome job by the way!
love your style.

Every good stop motion film that comes out, every one thinks it's by Tim Burton. I find that hard to believe honestly...

thats almost like that movie 9, distributed by the same company and produced by tim burton and everyone freaked out because they thought he directed it when it was really shane ackers vision. i dont know if youve seen it but i think you would have enjoyed it, very good art direction

I saw it 5 times (unfortunately, not in theaters). Pretty awesome stuff, and the picture is great.

I particularly liked in the movie that he's wearing MonkeyBone slippers.
From another film they did stop motion on and one that I think is under appreciated.

SO AWESOME! This was one of the best movies ever, and this is one of the best fan arts of it I've yet come across. Sweet!!! This was one of my favorite scenes, too.

This is beautiful beyond words. Lineless work, like stop motion, must be tedious and time consuming. I love this scene, but my all time favourite shot in the movie is where the Other Mother is jumping down in the web and is all twisted and screaming. It's really short, but it never fails to send chills down my spine every time I watch it.

Brilliant! I love the style used here--it accurately captures the whimsical and gorgeous mood of such an ambitious film. Definitely one of if not my favorite movie ever, and this picture does it justice.

The Other Father was one of my favorite characters, too. He seemed like the only good guy among the Other people, what with being controlled by the Other Mother and all. Plus, he was splendidly creepy in both the book and film.

Also: the movie came out on July 21st, if you are not already aware.

You've captured my absolute favorite part of the movie (The piano animation was brilliant, and the song itself was composed and performed by my favorite band) just perfectly. The style, the coloring, the expressions. Everything. I can't do more to express how pure awesome this pic is. Never in one of the numerous fanpics has the Other Father seemed so evil and eccentric, yet strangely amusing in a way that makes you want to learn more. This is one of the few pics I can say I've truly ever loved. <3

Oh man, I LOVED that movie. It was the most brilliant thing to hit the screens in a long time. Especially in 3-D. Totally cool with stop motion. I just shudder to think how tedious the whole thing was. Wow.

That scene was amazing with the TMBG song. And John Hodgman! I love that guy.

Great picture! I love the lineless..ness

I couldn't agree more, the movie was spectacular. Best I've seen in years. I love the movement of this picture...the wildly exaggerated features and proportions really make everything come alive (I can almost hear the music playing, haha). The color is excellent, too...not much to criticize here. Nice work.
